WHY “BALANCED VIEW” LANDSCAPING?
We enjoy a 4-season climate here in Southeast Virginia. Your home’s landscape should provide an enjoyable aesthetic throughout the year and not just in the Spring. That means selecting flowers, plants, shrubs, and trees that can be combined in such a way as to provide a visually appealing view during all of the seasons. That’s why I named my company Balanced View Landscaping.
Anyone can go to a nursery, buy a plant or tree, bring it home and put it in the ground. That’s easy! The challenge is understanding that plant, how it wants to grow, what it’s needs are over time. Then placing trees in your yard considering what they will look like in five years and making sure there is the negative space that creates visual appeal now and in the future.

LANDSCAPE DESIGN PROCESS
The biggest challenge in designing residential landscape is helping our clients understand the possibilities and translating their vision into reality. We do that through a 5-step process.
1. Visiting your home and ‘walking the yard’ with you.
This gives me a chance to ask a lot of questions and gain a better understanding of how your family uses your yard and where we might create beds, place trees, and preserve open areas.
2. Plan development.
Frequently I’ll use a drone to take an ariel view of your lot. This can be used to create a visual drawing that depicts placement of the various features you want.
3. Plant/tree selection.
Generally we do this for you. At your option if you’d like to be involved in the selection of key elements, like larger trees, you can join us at one of the commercial nurseries we use.
4. Installation of plants, beds, walks, gravel etc.
5. Many of our clients have our team return twice yearly to clean and maintain the landscape.
